The Bucketlist List: Skiing

Who here has a bucket list? I know I do and it’s less of a list than a tome; there are just so many things I want to do! While living on the east coast, I always imagined that a lot of those things on my bucket list were out of reach. They were across the country or across the ocean or in a galaxy far, far away. But I’m wrong. A lot of what’s on that list I can do in the area. As a result of realizing the richness of New England, I am starting this series. It’s meant to give you ideas of things to do locally and the knowledge to get said things done.   First up: Skiing

Stowe, Vermont Best Ski Town According to National Geographic, and supported by the Ski Guru at Boston.com, Stowe, Vermont is the must go place for skiing. It offers the full package from great nightlife, great town, and great trails.
“The archetypal New England ski village, Stowe is an impossibly quaint town of clapboard houses and steepled churches set in wooded hills at the foot of Vermont’s Green Mountains. Main Street and Mountain Road are alive with boutiques and eateries. The larger community harbors more three- and four-star restaurants than any ski town in the Northeast”

– National Geographic

Aside from the quaint eateries and boutiques, the Boston.com Ski Guru assures there is some nightlife as well. There is live music and dancing at The Rusty Nail. You can play a game of pool at The Shed. For the Ski Guru, it is the “Best Nightlife” in addition to being one of the best ski towns in America. Check it out at http://www.gostowe.com/

It has eight interconnected peaks and modern lifts, 132 trails (44 beginner, 47 intermediate, and 42 black diamonds), and night skiing. Great conditions are guaranteed all season long because of the resort’s 92% snowmaking on its 743 acres. Wachusett Mountain Best in Southern New England and for Beginners While Wachusett is not the biggest resort, it definitely offers convenience. It’s located in Princeton, Ma, which is about an hour and a half drive from Boston. It has 8 lifts, 22 trails, and night skiing on 16 trails. The mountain also offers 100% snowmaking on its 110 acres. For those trying to learn skiing or snowboard, they have a fantastic learn to ski and snowboard package.
